Acquisition No.: 2001-08
Title: Photographs; Bonneauville's First Convent.
Item History:

Late in the late 19th Century St. Joseph's Church leaders purchased a home on the west side of the first block of Maple Street for use as a convent. St. Joseph's School in Bonneauville was used alternately as a parochial and a public school. It sat empty at times and was closed for about a year due to a fire in the mid 20th Century.

During one of these early transitions from private to public school the old convent was re-sold for use as a private residence. In 2001 the building was raised up off of its foundation and moved about one block west. The relocation made way for the Jessica Street intersection with Maple Street and a new housing development. These three shots capture the process of relocating a large building.
