Item History: |
Austin Neiderer ("Auss" or "Aussie") loved automobiles. This shot was taken at 26 E. Hanover St. in Bonneauville. During a 1980's interview with Raymond "Dolly" Staub, proprietor of the Bonneauville Inn, "Auss Neiderer pulled Red Hill in high gear with this car, and won money." Red Hill was a now insignificant little hill on the Low Dutch Road, south of Rt. 116. Model T Fords and the like could not make the grade without down-shifting. Austin owned the first automobile in the area powerful enough to "take the hill".
The back of the photo is stamped; "Austin G. Neiderer, R. D. #5, Bonneauville, Gettysburg, Pa."
