Pennsylvania, Ernst Bohn, 1797 Map.
On May 27, 1789 Richard McAlister, the founder of Hanover, PA, entered the words "John McClenan. . . Bonaghtown" into his store ledger. He was recording the purchases of one of his customers. It is the earliest use of the town's name that has been found to date.
Where Bonneauville now lies there existed in 1797, some sort of a small settlement with enough buildings to be referred to as Bonaghtown. The tiny town was not recorded on this 1797 map.
Blue arrow indicates the approximate location of the town of Bonneauville in Mount Pleasant Township.
