Acquisition No.: 2016-16
Title: Overview; Bonneauville Fire Co. Memoribilia."
Item History:

"Bonneauville Fire Department officially merged with United Hook and Ladder as of midnight Jan. 1, 2016. With the merger, United Hook and Ladder's three stations in Bonneauville, Abbottstown and New Oxford boroughs now serve 10 municipalities in Adams County. United has been operating as a regionalized entity since it merged with Abbottstown's fire department in 2009. The department has also partnered with Gettysburg Fire Department to create Adams Regional EMS. One of the Bonneauville station's fire engines was sold over the summer to eliminate the duplication of services. The fundraising hall located next to the Bonneauville station will also be put up for sale in the next month. All of the departments' fundraisers will now be held in New Oxford." Hanover Evening Sun, Gettysburg Times Newspapers.

United Hook and Ladder's coverage area: Abbottstown, Bonneauville, and New Oxford Boroughs. Berwick, Hamilton, Mount Joy, Mount Pleasant, Oxford Township, Paradise and Straban Townships.

June 5, 2016 was cleanout day at the Bonneauville Fire Company Social Hall. The company, which listed charter members on its walls from the 1924 founding of Co. 19, had merged and no longer existed as a stand alone fire fighting group. It had been agreed between the merged groups that there would be no museum to preserve the tragedies, sacrifices, contributions and accomplishments of the past. I was given the opportunity to take plaques, trophies, records and memoribilia that existed from past decades and was not already claimed by deserving volunteers.

The following cataloged items are of groupings of memorbilia from Co. 19. The items were too numerous to have taken clear photographs of each individual piece. The pieces are currently available for study by any one interested. (2016-16's Photographed by Madelyn Noel.)
