Item History: |
A folkart log cabin bird house crafted by Vince Staub of Bonneauville, PA. Mr. Staub lived at 20 Maple Street in Bonneauville. He was the mid-20th Century owner/operator of Staub's Garage, 21 Maple Street. After his retirement the garage was operated by his son Frank Staub and later sold to Ken Sanders. In his retirement years, Mr. Staub enjoyed gardening and producing primitive style works like this log cabin bird house. He took pride in the fact that his folkart style works were made at virtually no cost other than time. From unwanted public sale items and similar sources he sawed and carved wooden logs and shingles for each of his houses. The folk-artist repurposed items for other of his creations; such as Amish horse and buggy models. See cat. no. 2004-01 for the book; "The Life and Times of Francis Vincent Staub, Sr." 2003.
